How I Styled My White Shirt Dress : Part Deux

There are Classic White shirts and then there is a white shirt dress , I would call it a classic too and an equally versatile classic. I love to give my own twists to the outfits I wear and add some character to it to , it all is just so much fun.

I don’t really plan my outfits ever its all last minute and it all just turns out fun always , planning my outfits too much just doesn’t work for me. Well they say never say never….maybe I turn into this person who plans and keeps outfits sorted but right now this is who I have been..

Back to the white shirt dress. Read here about how I styled it earlier. Adding unique accessories always help give character to any basic outfit. This time I added a different element to my dress, I added another dress , yeah you read right. I had been looking for a tulle slip dress for a while and since I couldn’t find a basic one I got this made. I keep sending fabrics to my tailor in Delhi with my drawings and he always (touchwood) gets what I want and I am able to add dash of my customised quirks to my garments.

So I styled my White Shirt Dress with my Tulle Slip Dress, It made it look like another outfit altogether. As a style coach I would suggest you experiment a bit here and there to make your outfits interesting and make them look like a brand new outfit.

I was in mood for a top knot , so a top knot it was. I felt like keeping the look mono chrome. So The White Shirt Dress and Black Tulle Dress over it and my favouritest Black Patent Leather Monk shoes (excuse my grammar sometimes…needed to tell you how much I like my shoes …sigh ).

Monochrome called for some break hence my very favourite , another classic , Ruby Woo from MAC on my lips. And as usual it called for being photo documented for you all.

How To Wear Saree Differently : Feat Nadiya Paar

Saree has always been considered the quintessential epitome of Indian Dressing and most of us stick to just two basic ways of draping this beautiful 6 yards of pure feminine grace . It is either the seedha palla or the Ulta palla.

So did I…..well until a friend of mine Megha Kanera who is a Saree Designer herself took me to a talk about the Saree where we were inspired by the idea of experimenting with the Drapes…..

Oh my my…what do I say about the saree, no garment in history of any culture is so versatile, it is not stitched , there over a hundred ways  to drape it, even if you draped same saree everyday you would have 100 different ones because you could drape and style it differently every time.

I have always been a saree fan….I know its not news for you all…<3, I can drape mine in under a minute and mostly do not need pins to put it in place and I take great pride in my love for the Saree……. and every time I wear one I know I would surely feel wonderful and more in touch with the woman in me ……plus dozens of compliments always bring that smile on my face….. well yeah It sure is a Compliment Magnet….. ain’t it…..!!!

Sarees look gorgeous on all body types, they add a certain grace to you. Whenever you wear a saree all you need to make sure is that It is draped well so as you are not clumsy wearing them.

Coming back to drapes, It was a day like any other which turned out to be ultra special. Me and Megha had been talking about taking some pictures in her Sarees for a while and that day we decided to just do it….. It was like friends playing dress up, My hair were unkempt, all I did was put on Kajal and bright hues of lipstick … for the first look I wore a Black and Pink Linen Saree designed by Megha, she retails under the Brand name Nadiya Paar.

Her love for travel, all things handmade and sari is the origin of label ‘Nadiya Paar’. ‘Nadiya Paar’ is a metaphor for leaving behind the old to discover the new. She does not follow fast fashion, trends or forecasts. What drives her are surroundings, natural raw materials, sustainable practices and traditional Indian textile techniques. Her designs are an outcome of personal experiences, an awareness of the connection to others and the environment…the willingness to act responsibly.

What I absolutely love about  ‘Nadiya Paar’ is that saris are relaxed, have a lived-in feel, imperfect, timeless and artisanal. ‘Nadia Paar’ is all things eco, ethical and green in one unified movement. They look at sari as an everyday garment, which I absolutely love . She just let’s the simplicity of the saree do the talking.

Drape 1:

She draped the Saree at midi length over the shorts for me , took the palla and tied a knot over my shoulder. and it looked like such a beautiful combination of adivasi belle meets city gal. The linen felt so soft just an apt saree to wear in this weather because the fabric was breathing. Styled with these beautiful nude sandals to keep it real and doable in everyday life.

Drape 2 :

Second drape was inspired the quint essential Dhoti. This gorgeous yellow saree worn with Nadiya Paar Blouse in navy was my absolute favourite. Usually the saree pleats are in the front , we decided to pleat this one on the back, result….. it added so much more character to an already beautiful saree, tool the palla the wrong side but the right way…. paired with another pair of nude sandals and my favourite burgundy lip colour…. My hair unkempt….

I just am so in love with idea of keeping on experimenting with drapes that whenever I do it I would make sure to take pictures and share with you all so as to inspire you to start wearing saree more often and have fun wearing it. I assure you of at least a zillion compliments ……
